Description:
Starting Point: Begin your run at Gough Whitlam Park on the Cooks River’s south bank, near Tempe Station (Line T4). This is easily accessible from Sydney Airport via Airport Rd. and the pedestrian bridge to Tempe Recreation Reserve.
Southern Bank Path (4.4 km): Enjoy a seamless journey along the south bank, following the Cooks River Cycleway path. Take in glimpses of the water and occasional wooded sections. Continue for 2.2km to Beaman Park and onwards to Sutton Reserve (4.4km).
Loop Option (9.2 km): If you prefer a loop, Sutton Reserve is a convenient spot to cross the river. Be aware of a few on-road sections and a brief switch to the south side path at Ewen Park on the north bank.
Longer Option (Up to 10 km one-way): For a longer adventure, continue from Sutton Reserve on the north side of the river. This section offers less scenic views but extends the path up to Canterbury Park Racecourse (approximately 10km one-way).
Note:
Public restrooms and water fountains are available at various locations along the trail, particularly near parks and reserves.
Download a GPS app or refer to a map, especially if you opt for the longer one-way route or explore beyond the main path.
Be aware of potential cyclists and pedestrians sharing the multi-use trail.
