The West Side Trail is a popular 10km multi-use path following the former Holdfast Bay Railway line from Adelaide to Glenelg. This route is a favorite among cyclists and commuters, and it’s also a fantastic option for runners.

Description:
The West Side Trail offers a scenic and convenient running experience. Enjoy the mostly off-road, tree-lined path with minimal road crossings. The path is paved and wide for most of the distance, making it ideal for runners of all abilities. The final 2km leading to Glenelg Beach are on road. An added benefit is that the trail is well-lit at night, allowing for safe evening runs.
Add-Ons & Variations:
Coastal Trail: Upon reaching Glenelg Beach, you can seamlessly connect to the scenic Adelaide Coast Park Trail (see our guide for details).
Sturt River Linear Park Trail: Roughly 2.5km south of Glenelg, after crossing Anzac Highway, you can join the Sturt River Linear Park Trail for a journey southeast (see our guide for details).
One-way Run with Public Transport: For a one-way running adventure, enjoy the West Side Trail to Glenelg and then utilize public transportation (tram or bus) for a comfortable return trip to Adelaide.
