What’s planned for Run2.au?

Run Australia – Your Way

Welcome to Run2.au!

We’re building a website that helps Australian runners to Run Australia – Your Way

Our focus is to provide something for all runners, from those getting started right through to those who run in events week in, week out.

We’re excited to share some of the plans that we have for Run2.au. We have set the site live while we build it, so that we can continue to develop and enhance it based on user feedback.

We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Here’s what’s planned:

Directory Listings – Runs, parkrun, Run Clubs & Coaching and Events

Our goal is to connect runners of all abilities to the best experiences available to them on their running journey. The foundation for this is our geographical directory:

Runs Curated content of the best locations in Australia to have a run. Check out a sample listing for Sydney’s Centennial Park.

parkrun – a geographical listing featuring the course map for each event in Australia. Check out a sample listing for Albert Parkrun.

Run Clubs & Coaching – listings of coaching businesses (physical and online) and running squads. Check out a sample listing for Run Crew.

Events – listings of events and fun runs. Check out a sample listing for Sydney’s City2Surf.

parkrun listings will be free forever, while we will offer Free and paid Featured listings for Run Clubs & Coaching and Event listings. See the comparison for Free and Featured Event listings:

All listings will provide runners the opportunity to provide reviews – think Trip Advisor for running – and set up a free account (see Email Newsletter and Rewards & Ambassador Program)

Email Newsletter

Runners will have the option to sign up to a weekly email newsletter, which will keep them up to date with relevant running content, upcoming events and offers. When a critical mass is reached, segmented newsletters will be introduced to provide different content to runners with different interests and aspirations (e.g. beginners vs regular event participants).

During initial stages Run2.au will be cross promoted in the Inside Athletics newsletter (over 4,000 subscribers) to encourage brand awareness and engagement.

Evergreen content

Expertly written content relevant to runners at their stage of their running journey. Opportunities for guest posts for Coaching and Event listing owners will be available to position their credibility and expertise.

Rewards & Ambassador Program

When runners set up an account with Run2.au they will accrue reward points for various activities such as populating their profile, reviewing events and sharing content. These reward points will enable users to earn badges (verifying their level of expertise to others), receive discounts from our online shop and to become eligible for the Run2.au Ambassador Program.

The Ambassador Program will welcome a cross section of runners, with event entry subsidised to support their participation and review of Feature Events.

Advertising

Advertising on Run2.au and in our newsletter will become available once critical mass benchmarks are reached. This will allow events, coaching business and other running related businesses (shoes, apparel, nutrition) to advertise on the site.

Australia On the Run publication

This annual publication will summarise the latest trends in Australian running and include first-party market research and benchmarking undertaken by Run2.au e.g. Net Promoter Score measures for Events. The publication will be provided for free to Featured Event and Featured Coaching listings, along with an individual Event report.

Content Collaboration

We will be keen to foster mutually beneficial relationships with content creators in the running industry, particularly those who develop news and event based content.

When’s this happening?

Although we’re ultimately aiming for perfection we’re taking the approach that perfect is the enemy of good and that there’s lots that we’ll learn from the running community as we develop the site. So we’ve launched it while it is still a framework with content being populated so that we can explore things together.

See our Road Map for our current thoughts of how we’ll sequence the development and release of the above content. And we’re always keen to hear your feedback!
