The Run for the Kids is an annual charity event held in Melbourne, Australia, that raises money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
It’s a fun and festive way for people of all ages and abilities to come together and support a great cause.
The event typically features two courses: a 14.4km long course and a 4.7km short course. Both courses start and finish in Docklands and take runners along some of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Bolte Bridge and the Yarra River.
In addition to the running, there are also plenty of family-friendly activities at the event, such as face painting, live music, and food trucks.
Event History
The Run for the Kids was first held in 2006 as part of the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. The event has been held annually since, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Course Description
Both the Short Course (4.7km) and Long Course (14.4km) events start and finish in the Docklands and include running over the Bolte Bridge.
