The lake features a flat, traffic-free, crushed gravel loop that is approximately 4.76km in length.
The loop is also the location of a popular weekly parkrun, held on a Saturday mornings, with a slight extension to the loop added to make the run 5km in distance.
Albert Park is the location of a number of sporting grounds, including the Lakeside Stadium athletics track and the Melbourne Sport & Aquatic Centre. Albert Park Lake is inaccessible for several weeks each year, leading into the Formula One race in April.
