I ran the half marathon for the second time in that course (the time before was 2022). The event was well organised, there was plenty of support and distractions on the course (musos) and there were plenty of hydration stations. My wave was 10 minutes delayed from advertised start time due to the numbers of runners in the wave. Some better communication about that pre-run would have been good, as I had cooled down while waiting for my wave to start. Overall, it was a lovely experience.
The course for the half mara was decent, lovely and scenic, good ups and downs and entertainment. Cost is standard, no complaints. And the organisation felt pretty good overall. The only downside for organisation is that there were not enough toilets. Waiting 20+ minutes is ridiculous. One of the toilets in the men’s was clogged and toilet paper was desperately running low (at 6:20am!). I feel sorry for those after me when the line was even longer. A tennis arena’s toilets are not designed for everyone in the arena to go to the bathroom at the same time.
I did my first race in Run Melbourne 2024 today. Very excited, the event is well organised. I joined the HM category and omg 10,000+ runners.
For feedback, I was registered in wave A, but ends up starting in wave B and ends up finishing with 1:42. The mark of each wave was not very clear so silly me being shy trying to stay in the back.
I would say there could be more usher in the start line to guide the participants especially at this level of crowd.
For the run/course its pretty good except the first few KM where we got stuck in traffic near flinders street station. Course is relatively flat, but the incline in the tan is killing me haha. Can I suggest a flatter course?
Leaving all feedback aside, it was a great event and thank you for making my first race experience enjoyable.
My 7 year old son and I did the Run Melbourne 5.5km. The course was spectacular, all the volunteers were amazing, and the atmosphere was incredible. It’s our first organized run together, other than park runs, and we thoroughly enjoyed it we’ll be back next year for sure.
A really well organised scenic run around the city, it does get congested with so many people but overall lots of fun.
The music at every km or so was nice and the atmosphere and activities at the start/end was super fun to hang around post run.
Stunning running when the sun comes up as you pass all the key Melbourne landmarks.
This was my first Run Melbourne event and participated in the 10km. It was a great course and had some incline but was mostly flat. It didn’t feel overcrowded as the event was split into distances and waves so not everyone runs at the same time. There were performers along the course which was a lovely touch to bring up the energy and nice to have a bit of entertainment.
There were pacers and markers for every km which was good to track how you were going.
I’ve run in Run Melbourne half marathon 2023 and 2024. The course is very scenic through the city and mostly flat which makes for some good times!
Lots of performers along the route which is a cool touch!
As with most big city runs there is some serious congestion at the start slowing you down a little.
I ran in the in the Run Melbourne Half Marathon… it was exhilarating. The event was meticulously organised, the atmosphere was electric.
The course was rewarding, with lots of flat stretches and a few gentle inclines testing my fitness. The final stretch and the finish was cool! I usually only know that space from the Australian Open tennis but today runners took over.
